A sacrament is a sacred Christian rite instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church. The purpose of the sacraments is:
to sanctify men, women and children,
to build the body of Christ in our world, and
to give worship to God
The seven sacraments are: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Christian Marriage, and Holy Orders. The sacraments are fundamental to our faith as Catholics and are signs of God’s grace. The visible rite by which a sacrament is celebrated signifies and makes present that grace on our journey to divine life.
